In 1990, a group of former drivers took their knowledge of the industry and a track record of success to begin Wil-Trans with 12 trucks.  Almost 15 years later, Wil-Trans has a story that anyone would be proud to tell.  Today, they have grown to an over the road fleet of more than 100 trucks.  However, they don’t let their success go to their heads. Wil-Trans has had primarily lease operators since it’s beginning.  Wil-Trans and Prime have recently developed the Advance Program, which now allow Wil-Trans to help owner operators to be successful too. Under this program, drivers without their own authority can work for Wil-Trans, haul Prime’s trailers and get paid on a weekly basis. Also, these new owner operators will be able to eliminate many of the costs that decrease their profits. “We offer better rates and better lanes than owner operators would be able to get on their own,” Thornton stated.
